On the 19th of October the District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Peter Brockbank accompanied by a number of his District Officers were warmly welcomed by the Worshipful Master W.Bro. Archie Torrance and the brethren of the West Kent Council 66. The District Officers forming the District Grand Prefects escort were as follows, W.Bro.’s Geoff Whale (Dist. G.D.C.), David Green (Dist. G.S.W.), (David Barden (Dep. Dist. G.D.C.), Paddy Langdown (Dist. G.S.D.) and David Cantlon (Dist. G.Std.B.).

The first order of business was for the District Grand Prefect R. W. Bro Peter Christopher Brockbank to present a 150th Keystone Award to the brethren of the Council in respect of a recent donation it had made to the Mark Benevolent Fund. This award, which takes the form of a collar jewel and a certificate, was received with great pleasure by W. Bro Archie Torrance on behalf of the brethren of the council. The DGP thanked the brethren of the council and went on to explain how donations were allocated.

The second order of business was to install W. Bro David Miller into the chair of St Lawrence the Martyr. and this was done in an excellent manner by W. Bro Archie Torrance ably assisted by officers of the council. The newly installed worshipful Master then appointed his officers for the ensuing year and were as follows:

When the installation ceremony had been completed the District Grand Prefect rose and congratulated the Worshipful Master and Brethren on taking office and passed on his best wishes for a happy and enjoyable year ahead.

Under the first rising, D.G.P. informed the brethren of the council that several brethren from the District of Kent will be honoured with appointments and promotions at the meeting of Grand Council on Tuesday 25th. October 2022 at Freemasons Hall/ The Brethren receiving honours are as follows:

He also announced that after nine years of as serving as the Deputy Grand Master for the order of the Allied Masonic Degrees R. W. Bro. Clive Manuel would be standing down and will be replaced by R. W. Bro. Ian Anthony Bailey. (Please update your toast lists). R. W. Bro. Ian was the District Grand Prefect for the Thames Valley District.

Following the risings, the Council was closed in due form and the brethren then retired from the lodge to dine together and enjoy each other’s company at the festive board.
