On the 11th of November the District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Peter Brockbank accompanied by his Deputy W. Bro Brian Alan Ward and a number of his District Officers were warmly welcomed by all the brethren of the Canterbury Council 65.

The main business of the evening was to install Bro. Michael Knowles into the chair of St Lawrence the Martyr and this was duly done by W. Bro Tony Lewis who was standing in for W. Bro Michael Hearn who was unavoidably absent. During the ceremony of installation W. Bro Tony was ably assisted by officers of the council. The worshipful Master W. Bro Michael Knowles then appointed and invested his officers for the ensuing year.

On completion of the installation ceremony the District Grand Prefect rose and congratulated the Worshipful Master and presented him with an Allied District of Kent pen. He then wished the brethren of the council taking office for the ensuing year a happy and enjoyable time ahead.

Under the risings, the District Grand Prefect thanked members of his escort: W. Bro’s David Barden, Derek Wilkins, Steve Davis, Roy Skelton and Geoff Whale for giving up their time to come along and support him.

Before the council was closed the Worshipful Master thanked W. Bro Derek Wilkins (District Grand Secretary) for taking the office of DC to assist with the ceremony The Council was then closed in due form and the brethren then retired from the lodge to dine together and enjoy each other’s company at the festive board.

The final point of the evening worth a mention was the superb food served at the festive board by the catering staff at the centre. Brethren if you are thinking about visiting this Council, hesitate no longer, not only will you be given a very warm welcome by the brethren of the council you will be able to treat your taste buds to a gastronomic delight. What other incentive do you need to come and visit this council? Honestly you will not be disappointed.
