A new Member for White Cliffs of Dover Council 210
When the White Cliffs of Dover Council No210 met on Monday 26th June, it was a wonderfully warm summer’s evening, where the sea was calm, and the gulls were strangely quiet. A superb welcome awaited the Guests and visitors to the Council which included the District Grand Prefect, R.W. Bro. Brian Ward, accompanied by the Deputy District Grand Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Michael Plant.
After a few cooling refreshments at the bar, the brethren and visitors moved upstairs to the Lodge Room, where the Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Fred Brown, opened the Council in the Degree of St. Lawrence the Martyr. The District Grand Prefect was then admitted to the sound of rapturous applause before receiving the customary salutations offered to him. The District Grand Prefect thanked the brethren for their warm welcome and on this occasion declined the gavel which was offered to him by the Worshipful Master.

The candidate, Bro. Reg Pritchard, was then introduced, received and admitted as a brother of St. Lawrence in a flawless ceremony conducted by the Worshipful Master, ably assisted by the Officers of the Council. W. Bro. David Green delivered the Lecture in a superb and flawless manner. The 'A' team of the Council were clearly at their very best in delivering the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony the District Grand Prefect welcomed Bro. Reg Pritchard into the Order and presented him with a traditional Allied Degree pen, and a lapel pin depicting a gridiron to commemorate the Martyrdom of St Lawrence and proclaimed him a member of the Allied Masonic Degrees. Finally, Bro. Pritchard was given a newly printed, tri-fold leaflet giving information about the Degrees of the Order, and an application form to encourage other brethren to join the Order.
The Council was then adjourned in the Degree of St. Lawrence the Martyr and Bro’s. Reg Pritchard and Ben Katumba retired from the Lodge room for a short while. The room was then prepared for the ceremony of the Degree of Knights of Constantinople, which was then duly opened by the Worshipful Master. Brothers Ben Katumba and Reg Pritchard then re-entered the Lodge Room to receive the ceremony of the Degree of Knights of Constantinople, which was excellently delivered by W. Bro. Fred Brown ably assisted by a host of very noisy artisans! The Lecture in this Degree was delivered in a very sincere manner by W. Bro. Roy Skelton. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the District Grand Prefect, congratulated Brothers Ben Katumba and Reg Pritchard on receiving the Degree of Knights of Constantinople, He also took the opportunity to congratulate Bro. Ben Katumba on the completion of all Five Degrees of the Order and presented him with a lapel pin depicting a gridiron which he had not previously received during his time as a member of the Allied Degree.

Following the ceremony, the Council was resumed in the Degree of St. Lawrence the Martyr, and the business of the Council completed. The Council was then closed and the District Grand Prefect was escorted from the Council.
The Brethren then retired to the Festive Board where they enjoyed a splendid meal in each other’s company and where conversation concerning triangles was in abundance! At the conclusion of an extremely enjoyable evening, the brethren headed home with happy smiles on their beaming faces and several thoughts about “Triangles”! You just had to be there.
