On Wednesday 26 July 2023 the Ashford Council Number 99 held its installation meeting at the Masonic centre in North Street, Ashford.

The Council was opened in the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr by the Worshipful Master, W. Bro Ivor Spencer, ably assisted by his officers. Before proceeding with the business of the Council, RW Bro Clive Manuel gave a Eulogy to commemorate the sad passing of W. Bro Graham Arthur Jolly.

Twenty-one brethren which included six visitors were in attendance to witness the Worshipful Master install the Master Elect Bro David Pugh into the chair of St Lawrence the Martyr. The inner workings were performed in an exemplary manner by W. Bro. Derek Wilkins. The installing Master and the Worshipful Master were then congratulated by the District Grand Prefect, RW. Bro Brian Ward, and the rest of the brethren who had taken part in the installation ceremony.

During the risings The District Grand Prefect asked the brethren of the Council to support the social event being held on the 2 September in Folkestone by pledging £80 towards the event. This support would allow the Ashford Council to name a race and buy and name 6 horses. To the delight of the District Grand Prefect the Ashford Council agreed, in principle, to support the event but in line with the rules and regulations of the Council the proposal would have to appear as a Notice of Motion on the next Summons.

Bro Paddy Langdown, announced that he hoped that he would no longer be coming to the Ashford Council as a visitor since he hoped to join the Ashford Council!
