News - Ashford Council 99 Welcomes a new Joining Member

The Ashford Council 99 obtained a dispensation from the District Grand Prefect to bring forward their regular meeting from the 6th September to Wednesday 30th August. This was done to accommodate several of its members to attend the Kent Mark Stewards meeting being held on the 6th September.

The council was opened in due form by the Worshipful Master W. Bro David Pugh ably assisted by his officers before the normal business of the council was attended to which included confirming the notice of motion to sponsor the social event being held in Folkestone on the 2nd September for £80. The DGP rose to thank the brethren of the council and gave details about the day and hoped to see as many of them brethren at the event. The council agreed to donate £500 to East Kent 2025 Festival.

R. W. Bro. Clive Manuel rose to thank W. Bro Steve Davis for stepping into the office of Secretary and carrying out those duties in an exemplary fashion while W. Bro Roger Odd had been unwell. The brethren responded with spontaneous applause.

Having completed these business matters, the brethren of the council voted on accepting W. Bro Paddy Langdown as a joining member of the council. This was vote was unanimously carried and W. Bro Paddy was then welcomed into the council by the W.M.

Having competed all the business of the council the lodge was closed and the brethren retired to the bar to enjoy a few refreshments before dining together at the festive board.
