The District Grand Prefect visits White Cliffs of Dover Council No 210
On Monday 18th September 2023, the White Cliffs of Dover Council 210 were delighted to welcome the District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W. Bro. Brian Ward to their regular meeting at Dover. The D.G.P. was attending in an unofficial capacity.
The council was opened in due form by W. Bro Fred Brown ably assisted by the brethren of the White Cliffs of Dover Council. The Worshipful Master then welcomed the DGP to the council and thanked him for his visit and his company. The D.P.G. replied that it was always a delight to visit and be in the midst of such august company.
The minutes of the previous council meeting were approved as a true record before the DPG was asked to present a Grand Council Certificate to Bro. Ben Katumba which he did taking the time to explain the valuable lessons to be learnt from each of the degrees.

There then followed a very informative lecture given on the history of the degree for the Knight of Constantinople by W. Bro. Lew Finnis. Upon competition of the lecture W. Bro. Lew received rapturous applause from the brethren and the thanks of the W.M.

A vote to admit V.W. Bro Ralph Apperley as an honorary member of the council was taken and as expected was unanimously approved. V.W. Bro Ralph thanked the brethren and complimented them on their excellent choice and decision making.
During the risings the D.G.P. thanked the brethren of the council for sponsoring the 'Race Afternoon' which took place on the 2nd September and informed them that 84 people attended the event and that just over £1,600 was raised on the day. A great success by any measure and hinted that he may well be asking the council for more support for next years event.

The council was closed in due form before the Worshipful Master and the brethren retired to the bar for refreshments and conversation before dinning together at the festive board.
A marvellous curry served as the main course at the festive board was enjoyed by everyone. It was also very pleasing to note that the topic of triangles which was so prevalent at the last festive board was not in evidence. In replying to his toast, the D.G.P. informed the brethren that a new poster had been designed giving details about the order and information to prospective candidates on how to join. Plans were now in place with the ambition of having this poster distributed and displayed in all of the masonic centres around the district. The new poster is now also available as a download on the website. At the end of the festive board the Worshipful Master W. Bro Fred wished the brethren a Merry Christmas. Honestly, he did.
Following many goodbyes to the brethren, the D.G.P. reluctantly left the bar with the District Secretary in tow to return home.
