Kent Allied Represented at the Allied District Meeting of London on the 18th November
The Deputy District Grand Prefect W. Bro. Geoff Whale represented the District of Kent at the Allied District of London Annual meeting held at Mark Masons Hall on Saturday 18th November. W. Bro. Geoff was accompanied by the District Grand Secretary W. Bro Derek Wilkins. Sadly, the District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Brian Ward who was scheduled to attend the meeting was unable to go because of family matter.
The Allied Districts of London and Cumberland and Westmoreland traditionally share the same dates for their annual meeting and this year was no exception. This inevitably results in the District Grand Prefects from other districts having to alternate their diary dates between these two meetings. However, this year Grand Master M. W. Bro. Thomas Firth Jackson was installing W. Bro Lawrence Hinde (soon to be R. W. Bro.) as the new District Grand Prefect for the District of Cumberland and Westmoreland. In addition to this great honour R. W. Bro. Lawrance would now be the proud bearer of the “Dummy” until a new D.G.P. would be installed. Our own D.G.P., R. W. Bro Brian was delighted to have passed the “Dummy” on as he had been the holder of it since February.

As expected, this quite naturally skewed the numbers of D.G.P.’s attending the northern meeting leaving only two current D.P.G.’s attending the London meeting. However, and for the first time ever it did allow the outgoing D.G.P. for Cumberland and Westmoreland R.W.Bro. Joseph Edward Crosby to attend the London meeting and he was most warmly welcomed by the D.G.P. for the District of London R.W.Bro. Colin Woodcock. Additionally,’ the meeting was attended by a few P.D.G.P.’s including the much-loved P.D.G.P. for London, R W Bro Eddie Goodwin.

During the meeting R.W. Bro. Colin Woodcock reappointed his Deputy of eleven years standing and thanked him for the excellent service he had given to the district in general and for the support he had received from him. He then re-appointed the District G.S.W., W Bro Peter Warner for a second year, and took the time to complimented him on his exceptional service to the district and for all the visits he undertook to other districts. During his address he took the time to thank all who had attended the meeting and thanked the Dist G.Sec W. Bro. Scott Cargill and Dist G.D.C. W. Bro. David Morris who had worked so hard behind the scenes and on the day to ensure the meeting ran like clockwork and ultimately deliver such a successful meeting.

At the end of the meeting the official guests were invited to attend a champagne reception before repairing to the dining hall to enjoy and excellent lunch with the rest of the brethren.
