A contingent from Kent attend the AMD District of Surrey Annual Meeting
On Saturday, 2nd December 2023, the District Grand Prefect R. W. Bro. Brian Ward supported by a large contingent of Kent Allied Masons headed West to attend the Annual Meeting for the District of Surrey AMD.
The contingent from Kent accompanying the District Grand Prefect included the Deputy District Grand Prefect W. Bro. Geoff Whale, the District Grand Secretary W. Bro. Derek Wilkins, the assistant District Grand Secretary W. Bro Mark Woolcott, the District Grand Junior Warden W. Bro. Tony Maslin and last but by no means least the Past Deputy Grand Master R. W. Bro Clive Manuel. On arrival all were warmly welcomed by brethren from the District of Surrey before being directed to the teas, coffee, and bacon rolls. (Always a good start to any meeting). These refreshments were enjoyed whilst catching up with friends from other districts prior to the meeting. There was also a gathering of brethren from the Peace and Harmony Craft Red Apron Lodge Number 60.

When the brethren had assembled in the temple and all the distinguished guests and visitors had been escorted into the temple the District Grand Prefect for Surrey R. W. Bro. John French accompanied by his officers for the year processed into the temple to thunderous applause. After opening the council, the D.G.P. proceeded to welcome all the guests, visitors, and heads of other orders to the meeting, this being done the meeting proceeded with much humour and efficiency.

When the business of the day was completed, and the council closed the brethren gathered at the bar for pre-dinner drinks, photographs, and general conversation before being asked to take their seats at the festive board.
The meal served and enjoyed by all was smoked chicken Caesar salad followed by roast leg of lamb with roast potatoes and seasonable vegetables, followed by a very tasty apple toffee crumble and ice cream. All of the above was washed down with copious quantities of wine. Upon completion of the meal a toast was made to the District Grand Prefect by our very own Clive Manuel as only Clive can deliver a toast. It was hilarious. This was followed by a toast made by the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Surrey W. Bro Bob Tuthill who presented his DGP with a cartoon in the style of an old-fashioned seaside postcard depicting him.

Following the festive board, the brethren from Kent reluctantly left the bar and the good company they were enjoying and set off for home.
