On Tuesday 30th January 2024, The Ashford Council held their regular meeting.

Regrettably there were only thirteen brethren able to attend of which three were visitors, although we do not really count W Bro Lew Finnis who is a permanent visitor and acts as our Tyler.

Our visitors were Chris Doll and Peter Hayler who gets everywhere.

The council was opened by the Worshipful Master W Bro David Pugh assisted by his officers. After the minutes were accepted a ballot for a candidate was taken which proved in favour and Bro Simon Norcott was introduced received and admitted into the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr by the Worshipful Master.

The St Lawrence lecture was given by W Bro Roy Skelton in an excellent manner.

The District Grand Secretary W Bro Derek Wilkins welcomed Bro Simon Norcott into the Council on behalf of the District Grand Prefect and presented him with a welcome letter from our DGP, an Allied tie, a lapel grid iron and not forgetting the Allied pen.

The business of the council followed with the Master Elect W Bro Roy Skelton and Treasurer Steve Davies for the ensuing being declared to which they both thanked the brethren.

Further to notice of motion the secretary proposed a change of meeting date in the bylaws to the last Thursday in August which was accepted.

After the meeting was closed the brethren retired to the bar for a few refreshments before dining together at the festive board and on discussion now have a joining member for our next meeting.
