On Saturday 6th April the Deputy District Grand Prefect W. Bro. Geoff Whale, accompanied by D.G.S.W. W. Bro. Paddy Langdown and Dist. G.Sec. W. Bro. Derek Wilkins made an early start to travel North to the district of Herts & Beds to represent Kent at their Annual District Meeting which was being held at the beautiful building of the Cloisters.

The Cloisters is an historic Grade 2* listed building. Built in 1907 by Miss Annie Lawrence as an open-air school dedicated to Psychology, it is an extraordinary building designed according to the Arts and Crafts Movement. It has been designated as one of the 'great historic buildings of North Hertfordshire'.

Since 1949 it has been the North Hertfordshire Masonic Centre, housing about forty Lodges.

The contingent form Kent was greeted by the District Grand Prefect for Herts & Beds R.W. Bro. Geoffrey Cheshire before being lured to where the smell of bacon rolls was being served. Conversation with many old friends ensued and time passed all to quickly before being directed by the D.C. to be seated in the temple.

The meeting was then opened by R.W. Bro Geoffrey Cheshire and his team of District Officers before the Deputy Grand Master R.W. Bro. Ian Bailey was processed in and saluted in due form. The meeting, as expected, was conducted in superb fashion with many humorous moments throughout.

Following the meeting the brethren dined together at the festive board where chatter and wine were in abundance. Eventually, however the contingent from Kent had to say their farewells and set off home to Kent.
