A Busy Night for the West Kent Council No. 66
On Wednesday 16th October the West Kent Council No. 66 were delighted to receive the District Grand Prefect for Kent R.W.Bro. Brian Ward to their meeting and witness a very enjoyable and full agenda.
The Council continues to grow and attract excellent candidates and this was yet another occasion when the Acting Worshipful Master W. Bro. Jody Townsend delivered a faultless ceremony of St. Lawrence for Bro. Philip Gurney. W. Bro. Jody Townsend also delivered the Lecture of the Degree with equal proficiency.

Following the ceremony and being received into the Order, Bro. Philip Gurney was congratulated by R.W. Bro. Brian Ward who highlighted Bro. Gurney’s enthusiasm for Companion Orders, noting that he was soon to join the 'Monday Club' at Bromley where three Orders meet and dine together namely Knole Conclave OSM, Chislehurst Caves Operative Assemblage and Hengist and Horsa Court of Athelstan.
The ceremony of installation then followed and once again W. Bro. Jody Townsend stepped-up and installed Bro. Martin White-Peart supported by W. Bro, Jamie Allan in the Inner Workings. Both having less than twenty-four hours’ notice due to the unfortunate absence of the Worshipful Master. W. Bro. Martin White-Peart then installed his officers from a stellar cast.

W. Bro. Paul Butler had decided to step down as Chaplain after many years of spiritual guidance and W. Bro. Roger Croucher likewise had decided to hand over the role of Treasurer after several years of excellent service in that vital role. Both were warmly and most enthusiastically thanked for their work by the members of the Council.
The evening was a truly memorable affair and saw the attendance of Bro. Neil Sceeny who had suffered serious heart failure a few months previously but was now able to attend meetings and was looking and feeling much better especially having lost over six stone in weight. Bro. Neil was greeted by the District Grand Prefect and praised for his commitment and dedication to the Council.

The Festive Board following was as always, a most happy affair with the usual Masonic humour and conversation about the brethren’s most recent adventures. Unfortunately, there was no Lychee Liquor available to make this the perfect evening.
