News - Paddock Wood Council 88 Welcome a New Member with Tradition and Warmth

The meeting commenced in due form with W. Bro. Nigel Cash extending a warm welcome to the brethren and guests, despite the chill of a cold winter's night. Special acknowledgments were given to W. Bro. Geoff Whale, the Deputy District Grand Prefect and W. Bro. Derek Wilkins, the District Grand Secretary for their presence.

The main business of the evening was to admit Bro. John Hills into the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees. Following instructions from the Director of Ceremonies, the Senior Deacon Bro. Peter Hayler withdrew from the Lodge. The Tyler gave the traditional knocks on the door, prompting the Inner Guard to inquire about the visitor. Once the identity was confirmed, the Senior Deacon re-entered with the candidate, Bro. John Hills.

The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Nigel Cash, then introduced, received and admitted Bro. John into the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr with a great deal of sincerity, a testament to his experience and dedication. The ceremony was further enhanced by W. Bro. David Jordan, who delivered the Lecture with evident passion and commitment, leaving a lasting impression on all present.

On completion of the ceremony W. Bro. Geoff, the esteemed Deputy District Grand Prefect, representing the District Grand Prefect R. W. Bro. Brian Ward rose to extend his own congratulations to Bro. John. W. Bro. Geoff then presented Bro. John with a Allied lapel pin in the form of a Gridiron and of course a District pen, followed by letter of welcome into the order and district on behalf of the District Grand Prefect.

After the successful completion of the ceremony the evening concluded with a sumptuous Festive Board. The gathering provided an opportunity for fellowship and celebration, rounding off a memorable night with good food and camaraderie. The event marked not only the admission of a new member but also the enduring tradition and warmth of the Masonic brotherhood.
