News - A New Member for Invicta Council 54

On Monday 17th February the District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Brian Ward accompanied by the District Grand Director of Ceremonies W. Bro. Jody Townsend and the Deputy District Grand Prefect W. Bro. Geoff Whale made an official visit to the Invicta Council 54 to witness Bro. Alan Campkin being admitted, received and introduced into the Degree of St Lawrence the Martyr.

The Council was opened in due form by the Worshipful Master W. Bro. Bill Pennell before the District Grand D.C. entered the Council to announce that the D.G.P. was outside the door of the Lodge and demanded to be admitted. A procession of Grand officers was formed up and the D.G.P. entered the meeting to rapturous applause followed by salutations. The D.G.P. thanked the brethren for there warm and friendly Invicta welcome. The ceremony to introduce, receive and admit Bro. Alan Campkin into the Degree of St Lawrence the Martyr was under taken by the Worshipful Master in an exemplary manner ably assisted by W.Bro. Jason Cameran-Potter who stood in as Senior Deacon at the very last moment. The lecture was also given by W.Bro. Bill. Upon completion of the ceremony Bro. Alan was then welcomed into the Order by the D.G.P. and presented with a personal letter of welcome, a Gridiron lapel pin, an Allied pen and the Tri-Fold leaflet about the order which includes an application form to entice any of his friends to join the order.

The degree of St Lawrence was then adjourned before being opened in the degree of the Knights of Constantinople. Bro. Alan was then admitted as a Knight of Constantinople in a ceremony performed by the Worshipful Master W. Bro. Bill Pennell who had by this time donned a magnificent crown to emphasise his position as Illustrious Potentate. He was once again ably assisted by W.Bro. Jason Cameron-Potter with and Bro Shane Lawler who performed his role as Inner Guard perfectly. The lecture was delivered by the Worshipful Master.

The lodge was then resumed in the Degree of St Lawrence the Martyr before the D.G.P. presented a Grand Council Certificate to Bro. Shane Lawlor.

During the risings the D.G.P thanked all the brethren who had attended the District Meeting and asked the council to sponsor the up-and-coming social event being held in Folkestone on the 2nd August 2025.

The Council was then closed in due form before the brethren retired to the bar for refreshments and conversation before dining together at a well-attended festive board.
