Kent Attend the A.M.D. Annual meeting for District of Yorkshire
On Saturday 22nd March the District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Bran Ward left his home in Folkestone at 04:45 (the birds weren’t even singing!) to represent the District of Kent at the Annual meeting for the District of Yorkshire.
An Early Start at Kings Cross Station
Thankfully the journey North was uneventful and he arrived at the Masonic Hall in Headingly with lots of time to spare. All the better to enjoy a well-deserved cup of Yorkshire tea and a sausage sandwich whilst chatting with other brethren who had arrived early. Soon after he was joined by the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Kent W. Bro. Geof Whale who had travelled on a later train.
At approximately 10:45 the brethren were encouraged to take their seats in the magnificent temple before a number of processions for visiting D.G.P.’s and other distinguished guests took place. At 11:00 the District Grand Prefect for the District of Yorkshire R.W.Bro. Brian Butterfield accompanied by his officers processed into to the temple to rapturous applause.

When the District meeting had been opened in due form the visiting D.G.P.’s, distinguished guests and heads of orders were welcomed by the District Grand Prefect for Yorkshire. As expected, much banter and laughter ensued.
As expected, the remainder of the meeting ran like clockwork and at approximately 12:15 the meeting was closed in due form. The brethren then gathered for photographs closely followed by refreshments then a very tasty lunch.

At approximately 14:30 Brian and Geoff set off to the station for their journey home with the District Grand Prefect from Sussex, R.W.Bro. Gene Earland in tow. The journey from Leeds to London was filled with lively banter and laughter and a few glasses of wine. A perfect end to the day.
