Having been officially welcomed by W.Bro. Phil Clare the ruling Worshipful Master, and the brethren of the Council the District Grand Prefect accepted the gavel offered him by the Worshipful Master and took the chair. He then thanked the brethren of the council for their warm welcome and introduced his team of active officers who had formed the escort. They were W. Bros, Whale, Hartley, Coxon, Barden, Wilkins, Plant, Hutchinson, Spencer, Woolcott, Grant, Johnson, Hayler and Wilson-Story. Having introduced his team, he then took the opportunity to invest W.Bro. Ivor Spencer as the District Grand Sword Bearer who had been unavoidably absent at the District Meeting.

During the risings the D.G.P. asked the brethren of the council if they would like to support and sponsor the district social event planned for the 2nd August with a donation of £80. To his absolute surprise and delight the treasurer W.Bro. Phil Clare proposed that the Council could afford to sponsor the event with a donation of £250 which was seconded by R. W. Bro. Peter Brockbank and passed unanimously by the brethren. Before retiring from the lodge room, the D.G.P. asked the brethren to continue to try and visit other councils in the district as often as they could and to continue to promote the order when and where ever they could.
