On Monday 9th June the District Grand Prefect R.W. Bro. Brian Ward along with a team of active officers attended a ‘milestone meeting’ of the Invicta Council 54 held at the Masonic centre in Gillingham.

When the lodge had been opened in due form by the Worshipful Master W.Bro. Bill Pennell the District Grand Prefect was admitted to the meeting and given the customary salutations to which we responded with thanks. The D.G.P. was then offered the gavel, which he gratefully accepted with thanks and promised that it would not be for too long. He then thanked all of his active officers and the other visitors for giving up their time to support him and the Invicta Council stressing the importance of visitors other council meetings. Before relinquishing the chair, he took the time to invest W. Bro Mark Kirby who had been unavoidably absent at the district meeting in February as his Junior Deacon for the year.

The Lodge was then adjourned in the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr and opened in the degree of the Grand Tilers of Soloman by the Worshipful Master assisted by his officers. W.Bro. Bill Pennell then delivered a ceremony to be proud of for Bro. Alan Campkin and concluding by delivering the lecture. Having completed the ceremony, the lodge was then resumed in the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr.

The District Grand Prefect was then delighted to present a Grand Masters Keystone collarette and Jewel to the Worshipful Master who received it with grateful thanks on behalf of all of the brethren of the Council. The D.G.P. expressed his admiration to the brethren of the Invicta Council in achieving this extremely prestigious honorific and hoped that other councils in the district would follow suit and support the Grand Masters Keystone Fund.

During the risings the D.G.P asked the brethren of the Council to sponsor the race afternoon due to take place on the 2nd August in Folkestone for £80. When the council voted unanimously to support the event he was quite naturally delighted and expressed a wish that they would all try to attend the event with their friends and family.
