A busy Evening for Paddock Wood Council 88

On Wednesday 27th August, W.Bro. David James, the Worshipful Master of Paddock Wood Council 88 was delighted to welcome a total of twenty four brethren to their regular meeting held at the Masonic Hall at Wrotham. In addition to the members of the council the District Grand Prefect R.W. Bro. Brian Ward and the District Grand Secretary W.Bro. Derek Wilkins were in attendance.

When the lodge had been opened and the minutes of the council approved the D.G.P was saluted with the customary salutations to which he responded with thanks.

The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. David James assisted by his officers introduced, received and admitted Bro. Gavin Crickett as a brother of St Lawrence with truly outstanding ritual. The lecture of the degree that followed was delivered with flare, poise and panache by R. W. Bro. David Jordan. The DGP then welcomed Bro. Crickett into the order and presented him with welcome letter, a grid Iron lapel pin, a trifold leaflet which explains the different degrees of the order and of course the obligatory Allied pen. In addition to this the D.G.P. was delighted to present Bro. Gavin with an Allied tie provided by his proposer Bro. Peter Hayler.

The Degree of St Lawrence the Martyr was then adjourned and the lodge room set up for the ceremony of Knights of Constantinople. W.Bro. David James continued as the Master and then opened a Council of Knights of Constantinople and prepared to admit Bros. John Hills, Gavin Crickett, Tony Chrisholm (West Kent Council 66) and Davd Lucas (Perrem Council 54). The brethren and guests of the council were then treated to another exemplary ceremony delivered by W. Bro. David James. The lecture was given by W.Bro. Geoff Whale.

The council of Knights of Constantinople was then closed and the lodge was resumed in the Degree of St Lawrence the Martyr.

Upon completion of all the other lodge business the lodge was closed in due form and the brethren retired to the bar for refreshments and conversation before dining together at a scrumptious festive board.

All I all a wonderful evening of enjoyment with the ritual being performed to a very high standard.
