Kent Brethren attend Shuttleworth Council in East Lancashire
On Friday 12th September W. Bro. Derek Wilkins set off on the 300 mile drive to Rochdale, accompanied by the District Grand Prefect, R.W. Bro. Brian Ward, W. Bro. Mark Woolcott and W. Bro. Tony Maslin.
There was the customary pit stop at the American Diner for caffeine and sausages and suitably refreshed the merry band set off again with renewed vigour. Arrival at the hotel was again marked by tradition with a swift pint at the very hospitable Free Traders Pub opposite.
Refreshments on arrival for the Kentish contingent
Check-in accomplished it was time to catch up with a short nap before the first meeting of the Weekend Shuttleworth Council.
Arrived at the Masonic Centre for the Shuttleworth Council meeting
Shuttleworth Council was formed for the District Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries from all Districts to come together and enhance communications and inter District connections. Many old friends gathered at the bar before the formalities of the evening were conducted.
W. Bro Graham Bainbridge was installed into the chair by the very reliable and ever present W. Bro. Perter Warner in an excellent manner.
Kent Brethren assisted in the ceremony with R. W. Bro. Brian Ward acting as Senior Warden during the ceremony and W. Bro. Derek Wilkins continued his duties as Council Director of ceremonies while W. Bro. Mark Woolcott was promoted to Junior Deacon of the Council.

The Festive Board was a very jolly affair with much good humour and tales from around the country as a whole.
After the meal and the usual toasts the Kent contingent plus a few stragglers set off back to the hotel for a night cap or three where they were treated to a most impromptu fashion show!
Sometimes words are not enough
Once the entertainment had emptied the bar the brethren retired to their slumber and for the next part of their East Lancs adventure.
