On Saturday 18th October a contingent from Kent headed North to Bletchley to attend the Thames Valley annual district meeting.

In truth that statement is not entirely factual. The District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro. Brian Ward, and W. Bros Derek Wilkins (District Grand Secretary) and Tony Maslin did indeed arrive at Bletchley in plenty of time for the meeting. Sadly, for some inexplicable reason, the Deputy District Grand Prefect, W.Bro. Geoff Whale, headed North to Letchworth! However, all’s well that ends well and Geoff did eventually turn up at Bletchley and was given a belated warm welcome by R.W.Bro. Bob Chevin the District Grand Prefect for Thames Valley.

In addition to the usual business items on the agenda were two additions of great importance. The first was the installation of W.Bro. Paul Rush as the new Deputy District Grand Prefect. A task that was undertaken with flare and aplomb by the District Grand Prefect. The second was a presentation made by Deputy Grand Master R.W.Bro. Ian Bailey of a Grand Masters Keystone Fund Jewel and Certificate to the District which was gratefully accepted by the District Grand Prefect.

Following these two major agenda items the District Grand Prefect then invested and appointed his officers for the year before giving his address to the brethren.

The district meeting was then closed in due form and the brethren retired to the bar for refreshments and conversation before enjoying a superb festive board together. All too soon it was time to head for home. Special care was taken to ensure that Geoff was indeed heading home and not some other random location!
