A Red-Letter Day for Hartley Council 74
On Saturday 29th November the Hartley Council held their regular meeting at the Shirley Woolmer Masonic Hall in Sidcup.
The Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Lee Curtis, opened the lodge in due form, assisted by his Officers, at approximately 15.30. Despite the appalling weather conditions prevailing that day, the Worshipful Master was delighted to welcome several visitors to the meeting, including the District Grand Prefect, R.W.Bro. Brian Ward, and his Deputy, W. Bro. Geff Whale.
The Worshipful Master then attended to the immediate business of the Council, before reluctantly relinquishing the Chair in favour of W.Bro. Tony Clayton, who conducted the main business of the Council. W.Bro. Lee had earlier conducted a long ceremony at the meeting of Temple Builders OSM Conclave (part of the Sidcup ‘Saturday Club’). As we all know, there is only so much ritual one can keep in our heads at one time!
W.Bro. Tony then admitted, received and introduced Bros Simon Baker, Rudi Degeest and Ian Gallehawk into in the degree of St Lawrence the Martyr in a first-class manor. The excellent standard of the ceremony continued when the lecture of the degree was delivered by W. Bro. Alan Coxon M.B.E. Bros Ian, Rudi and Simon were then welcomed into the order by the District Grand Prefect and his Deputy.

W. Bro Tony, having completed his task with distinction, handed the Chair back to W. Bro. Lee, who conducted the remaining Council business and then closed the Lodge.
Following the customary photographs, a few of the brethren gathered in the bar for refreshments before heading home.
